From Nursing School to Unconditional Love

As I drove down the road towards home, the seat heater warming my backside, the evening sun splashing her masterpiece of colors out for all to enjoy, I smiled. Freshly attuned to Reiki Master I recalled my journey. While in nursing school we were told repeatedly "this is YOUR journey", as if we were on an island earning our degrees alone. I quietly disagreed with this statement each time it was spoken. Why? Simply put, we had to lean on instructors to educate us properly, our cohort for emotional support, and a study group to prep for exams. It was never a solo journey up that mountain.
I view the reiki journey much the same way as I do nursing school, a team effort. It appears as though the practitioner is climbing solo. When in reality, we generally have a community of practitioners climbing alongside us, helping us along when we become weak, directing us to the proper workshops and classes, and of course always there to do a session for us. Doctors go to other doctors. Reiki practitioners go to other Reiki practitioners for balancing and healing when we have depleted ourselves.
Therefore, the recent attunement that was received was not something I would have been able to do on my own. Everyone around made sure that I succeeded. Whether it was a conscious effort on their part or not - they all play a role and together it is "Our journey!" Humans helping other humans along in life. That feels right. Doesn't it? In any walk of life. Any job. Any age. Any gender. Any race. Any sexuality. That feels like unconditional love and that, my friends, is why we are all here. To love.
